Iran’s ‘Kites’ to participate at Berlin film festival

Iran’s short film ‘Kites’ is to participate at the 70th Berlin Int'l Film Festival in Germany.

Iran’s short film ‘Kites’ is set to participate at the 70th edition of Berlin International Film Festival in Germany.

‘Kites’, directed by Sayyed Payam Hosseini, will be screened in the festival’s “Generation Kplus” section.

The film’s participation in the German event, which is also known as the Berlinale, marks its first international appearance.

‘Kites’ is about a girl who lost her kite on the border between Iran and Iraq in Kurdistan Province. She asks three boys to help her, but the river and the mines, the legacy of the past wars, act as barrier to the kite.

Earlier reports said Iranian feature film ‘Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness’ by Masoud Bakhshi will be screened in the festival’s youth-oriented section “Generation 14plus”, while Nader Saeevar’s ‘Namo’ will take part in its Forum & Forum Expanded section.

Founded in 1951, the Berlin International Film Festival is one of the world’s leading film events.

The 70th edition of the festival will take place on February 20-March 01, 2020.
